Paddy the Baddy gained another victory this past Saturday in the octagon, but the real focus of the night came from his words after the fight about his friend.

During his post-fight interview with UFC commentator Michael Bisping, Pimblett took a moment to share some emotional information from his life away from the octagon…. that his friend had unfortunately committed suicide just before the fight and how people need to be able to speak up about their problem to find a solution instead of just keeping it in…. From Paddy:

“I woke up on Friday morning at 4 AM to a message that one of my friends back home had killed themselves. This is 5 hours before my weigh-in. So Ricky lad, that’s for you… There’s a stigma in this world that men can’t talk… Listen, if you’re a man, and you’ve got weight on your shoulders, and if you think the only way you can solve it is by killing yourself, please speak to someone. Speak to anyone.”

After the interview, Paddy then left the octagon in tears, mourning the loss of his friend.

After his Rear-Naked Choke victory of the evening, his MMA record stands currently at 19-3. This was his 3rd fight in the UFC, and so far has earned a performance bonus every fight for a total of 3 currently. Additionally, Paddy promised to return to the octagon by the end of this year.

If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide, you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
