Elite pound-for-pound competitor Mikey Musumeci is gearing up for the second defense of his ONE flyweight submission grappling world title. The contender he will face off against is 2022 IBJJF No-Gi Worlds champion Osamah Almarwai.

This exciting matchup promises to be an incredible demonstration of technical skill, athleticism, and sheer grit as these two elite combatants clash in pursuit of the belt. It will surely be a thrilling encounter, and fans around the world are eagerly anticipating what the match holds.

The stakes are high, and with so much on the line, this historic bout will undoubtedly bring passionate performances from both fighters!

This epic Co-Main event will take place live at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado.

A five-time IBJJF world champion (four times in the gi and once in no-gi), Musumeci is undefeated across three matches inside ONE Championship. He submitted MMA legend Masakazu Imanari in his promotional debut before taking a decision win over Cleber Sousa to capture the inaugural ONE flyweight submission grappling world title.

In his most recent outing, he defended his belt against Combat Sambo world champion Gantumur Bayanduuren — dominating him badly enough to injure one of his legs. Now, with that much momentum behind him, Musumeci will attempt to make it two defenses of his championship when he steps into the cage against Almarwai!

Who Is Almarwai?

With just over a year of his black belt career under his belt, Almarwai has achieved incredible success competing at the highest level; in addition to regular IBJJF competitions, he has tested himself under ADCC rules and Fight 2 Win’s submission-only format similar to ONE’s ruleset — plus, he even owns a submission victory over 2021 IBJJF no-gi world champion Estevan Martinez – whom Musumeci was unable to submit during their 15-minute bout at Who’s Number ONE.

Will Musumeci be able to make it two defenses of his championship against such an elite adversary? Tune into Prime Video or Amazon Plus on May 5 to find out!
