Mikey Musumeci is one of the best American BJJ players to date…. a 4x IBJJF black belt World Champion, and he is currently the only American to hold 3 world titles in Gi and one in No-Gi.

Mikey has shared the mats with the biggest names in the not-so-gentle art of Jiu-Jitsu and holds wins over such champions as Bruno Malfacine, Joao Miyao, and Isaac Doederlein, to name a few.

If these accolades weren’t enough, he holds the record for fastest submission in the IBJJF Worlds finals history. He secured this stat with an ankle lock from butterfly ashi in just 12 seconds!

Check out his video where he breaks down how he landed this submission and a few other incredible techniques:

Mikey has always been against performance-enhancing drugs (PED’s) in Jiu-Jitsu, a notable stance. And even with his killer instincts, he is generally viewed as one of the nicest guys in the Jiu-Jitsu scene.

Being Italian-American, Mikey loves his pizza and pasta dishes and often posts on Instagram about his diet being completely pizza, pasta, and Acai. This is likely an exaggeration, to say the least, especially when you look at his Instagram food stories posts which seem to have several other types of food such as chocolate, bananas, chicken and rice, etc. So, he is probably, in reality, eating much cleaner, but nonetheless, this statement made some fans question if the 24-year-old was natural in his training and diet or not.

In this interview with Joe Rogan, Mikey explains how he can sustain and perform at his best with just one meal a day of either pizza or pasta and a pint of Acai.

He offers how utilizing this diet with intermittent fasting allows him to perform much better in competition.
